Foster carers are the heart of our rescue mission. With carers across Victoria, we’ve seen first-hand how opening your home to a rescue animal can quite literally save lives and deeply enrich your own.

Why fostering matters
Every animal in our care has a story. Some have known neglect, others have faced abandonment, and many have never experienced a safe, loving home. By fostering, you're giving them a chance to heal, trust again, and prepare for their forever family. But you’re not just changing their life and you’re improving your own.

Fostering is more than just providing a temporary home; it's therapy for the soul. Animals offer companionship, structure, and unconditional love. In return, many carers experience reduced stress, improved mood, and a stronger sense of purpose. Whether you're cuddling a sleepy pup, going for walks, or helping a shy dog learn to trust, every moment shared is a step toward healing for both of you.
What we look for in a foster carer
We’re always in need of more kindhearted Victorians to join our network of carers. To ensure the safety and well-being of our animals, our ideal foster carers will:

Own their own home (or have landlord permission to foster animals)

Have a reliable vehicle – transport to vet visits, adoption days, or pick-ups is essential

Have secure fencing and outdoor space suitable for dogs or other pets

Be confident with animals – whether you're experienced or just passionate, we provide support

Have existing pets – that’s okay! Many of our rescues thrive with animal companions

Live anywhere in Victoria – from metro Melbourne to rural communities, you’re welcome to foster for us

Provide adequate food, shelter and care to the foster animal at all times
We provide guidance, veterinary care coordination, and a supportive rescue family ready to back you every step of the way.
